More Details
About the shell:
This Bougarabou was hand carved from Twenaboa timber in Ghana. Twenaboa is a medium density timber, lighter than hardwoods. These shells tend to have great bass ranges and offer great portability. Ghanaian carving styles usually result in twenaboa drums with low bass and strong slaps.
About the hide:
Thick skins are rich and warm and once settled they have a very melodic quality. Cow skins are typically a lot thicker than goat, offering rich melodics. Suited to experienced players with tougher hands and well developed technique. We take care to find the best hide for the shell to maximise its dynamic range.
