Drumming, percussion, and music workshops for all ages and levels.
From group classes to one-on-one lessons, drum making to dance, African strings to sound healing, our private classes are available in Melbourne and online.
We offer more than djembe classes:
Jump into Middle Eastern percussion classes with darbuka, riq and frame drum. There are drum making workshops, where you build your own customised djembe from start to finish. Kids can join in too with sessions full of rhythm games, dance, and song, tailored to all ages.
And if you want to go deeper, we offer private lessons in a variety of instruments, shaped around what you want to learn.
All sessions are hands-on and open to every level of experience.
Learn the darbuka, riq, frame drum, and other Middle Eastern percussion. We cover traditional rhythms, techniques, and the joy of playing together. Suitable for beginners and experienced players alike.
Make your own djembe from start to finish, with our full guidance. Choose your shell, pick your skin, and learn how it all comes together.
At the end, you’ll head home with a drum you built yourself.
These sessions mix drumming, rhythm games, movement, and song.
They’re active, creative, accessible, and tailored to suit the energy, age, and needs of the group.
Learn at your own pace with one-on-one lessons.
We teach djembe, dunun, balafon, talking drum, handpan and more, in our St Kilda studio or online.
Build a Shamanic frame drum using traditional methods in a one-on-one workshop with Abli at our St Kilda studio.
You will work step by step, from preparing the frame to selecting the hide and lacing it together.
You’ll finish with a drum you have handmade yourself, ready to play.
The Shamanic frame drum is one of the oldest known instruments and is often considered the first skin drum.
It has been played around the world for centuries, used in ceremonies, rituals, meditation, and gatherings of many kinds.
