Krin log drums are solid-wood slit drums from West Africa, also known as kirin, kolokolo, or lokole.
Each drum is carved from a single piece of wood, with a central slit that allows for clear high and low tones when played with sticks.
These krin drums are supplied with a pair of wooden strikers and are commonly heard alongside balafon, kora, djembes, and dunun in contemporary West African ballets and ensemble settings. The construction is simple and robust, with the sound shaped by the length, thickness, and carving of the log rather than added hardware.
