Following many requests from Teachers over the years, we have created the Teacher Video Hub – a resource centre for your African Drumming Facilitation needs
Our Hub gives you a broad range of rhythms for all ages, plus additional games, traditional songs and musical exercises to develop your students’ learning. We break things down for you as a teacher so you can absorb and fast track your learning as quickly as possible
We’ll be updating the hub with new content every month, so stay close to check out the new additions, and let us know if you have any requests.
Bring classrooms to life with African drumming workshops that build confidence, cultural awareness, and teamwork for students of all ages.
These hands-on incursions give children the chance to explore rhythm, music, and movement in an engaging way that supports learning outcomes. Designed for primary schools, secondary schools, and kinders across Australia, our interactive drumming sessions encourage creativity, focus, and social connection. Led by experienced facilitators, each workshop introduces authentic African instruments and traditions while aligning with curriculum goals for wellbeing, cultural studies, and the arts.
Our 6-week series cover a full West African rhythmic arrangement, including support djembe parts, solos, breaks and calls. We focus on rhythms from the ancient/traditional djembe nations (Mali, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso & Senegal), but delve into other groves from Ghana on occasions.
Our lead facilitator is supported by a Dun (bass drum) player, so you’ll get the full polyrhythmic experience, which helps to develop your auditory skills too.
Both Beginners and Intermediate levels work on technique and dexterity training to improve your hand independence, coordination and drumming stamina.
If you haven’t had any formal lessons before, we recommend starting with Beginners and getting a solid grounding in technique and the arrangement concepts of West African drumming music.
If you are finding that both come naturally and quickly, then you can shift to the Intermediate class after completing one or two 6-week series, following a chat/confirmation from your teacher.
