We bring the Course to you directly anywhere in Australia, NZ, or online, at a time that suits your schedule.
An introduction to the world of West African music and how to practically teach it. We’ve designed this course to be accessible for people with little to no drumming experience.
Strengthens your musicianship and leadership while exploring ensemble development, soloing, and the joyful spirit of West African drumming – bringing together technique, creativity, and a sense of fun!
Advanced skills and techniques for creating effective and rewarding sessions and programs.
This level raises the bar for your musicianship and leadership, taking the music to new heights.
You’ll explore 12/8 rhythms, craft more complex arrangements, and further develop your soloing – pushing you to grow across all the key themes.
This one-day refresher is for trained facilitators who want a focused review of Level 1 and Level 2 content.

“I attended the two day facilitator workshops in Sydney with Djulz. This was my first experience with African drumming and I highly recommend the course. The weekend was educational, professional yet personal with Djulz sharing theory and practical knowledge to provide fun, friendship and learning for the group.
We engaged with music, rhythm and the story of drumming.
Fun, fabulous and uplifting!”
“I attended the 2-day face-to-face Level 1 & 2 workshop in Sydney in 2026. As a drummer, I am always learning, and I gained a lot of strategies to use with fellow drummers.
It was awesome, informative, inclusive and fun. The facilitator was professional, experienced, accommodating, and very easy to learn from. There was a great balance of playing and theory.
I can’t wait to do the next workshop and retreat!”
“The Level 1 Course was a great introduction to the djembe. Djulz was an excellent and knowledgeable presenter who did a good job of tailoring the session to the needs of attendees. She gave us examples of different activities of varying levels of difficulty that we can teach directly to our students, which was very useful. I left the session wishing I had signed up for Level 2 as well! ”
It truly was the best training ever with the most beautiful people and the most excellent leader. I can’t stop smiling!! Feeling like my molecules have been rearranged – in the best way!! Highly recommend the program.
Thank you again Djulz for such an incredible and inspiring weekend, and for giving me the opportunity to meet such incredible people. I look forward to hearing how we can all help each other on our new found teaching path.
I love my one-on-one course. Thank you to my facilitators Djulz and Alistaire. I have learnt so much from them about African drumming- and they bring to them a great passion and knowledge of African Drumming. Thank you.
Completed Levels One and Two Facilitator Training online. Highly recommended, a lot of learning and fun packed into those two days. Feel well prepared to begin sharing my new knowledge with my class.

I am a primary school teacher and this was well suited to my teaching needs!! Loved it!

“From our classroom drumming sessions, we saw kids who didn’t participate in class really start to participate”
“We learned so much in one weekend. Brianna is a fabulous facilitator and her knowledge is vast…we all got so much out of it. I recommend you do it!”
“I learned so much. I learned about how to be culturally appropriate with the African drums as well as making sure that I understand how pieces work together.”
