What age is the 50cm djembe suited to?
The 50cm djembe is designed for drummers aged 10 and over, with a lighter shell (3 to 4kg) and a playing surface sized for smaller hands.
It’s easy to hold between the legs and comfortable to play for extended sessions.

What’s the difference between the 50cm and the 50cm PLUS?
Both the 50cm and the 50cm PLUS djembes are 50cm tall, but the PLUS has a wider playing surface, with a head diameter of 9.5 inches compared to 8.5 inches on the standard 50cm.
The wider head makes it easier to find the tones and slaps, and is a better fit for bigger hands, or anyone wanting a playing experience closer to a full-size djembe.

Why does this djembe skin look different from other drums I’ve seen?
Goat skin varies naturally in colour, texture, and markings.
Our Indo djembe skins aren’t bleached or treated to produce a uniform white finish, which means each skin looks different and retains the natural oils that give the drum its tone and longevity.
The djembe originates from the Mande peoples of West Africa, where the drum has been made with natural, untreated skins for centuries.
That tradition informs how we select and treat our skins across the Indo range.
Where does the wood for this djembe come from?
The shell is hand carved from solid mahogany grown in Indonesia, sourced from eco-friendly plantations.
Mahogany is well suited to djembe construction, producing a warm, responsive tone across the bass, tone, and slap.
