Product Specifications
The Sabar, which originated with the Serer people, is a traditional drum from Senegal (also played in the Gambia). It is generally played with one hand and one stick and is a very loud drum. A Sabar ensemble is an impressive sound, and the music and dance is often played at a frenetic speed.
Dougarra is a less common timber, similar to lenke in density but typically carved lighter. This wood usually has lighter chocolate brown tones and features the full tonal range of sound, usually sounding somewhere between a lenke and a khadi Guinea carve.
We recommend using good quality headphones for all our sound grabs – they’re recorded at CD quality for your listening pleasure!
