How much lacing do I need for my drum?
Length depends on your drum size: 7m for small drums, 12m for meduim, 20m for large, and 23m for XL. The bundles are cut generously, based on how we lace our own drum handles. If you lace in a different way, you may use a little more or less.

What’s the difference between goat and kangaroo lacing?
Both are cut at a medium thickness and both hold up to regular handling. Goat is a little stiffer and less elastic than Kangaroo, which means it may hold its tension longer over time. Both a durable and suited to this application.

Does the lacing come as one continuous piece?
Each bundle is one or more continuous pieces. Shorter lengths are usually a single piece, longer bundles may be joined from more than one rather than a single unbroken strap.

Which drums is this lacing suitable for?
The lacing suits shamanic drums, frame drums, and any hand drum with a laced handle across the sizes in the guide above. It’s the same hide we use on our own drums, so it also works for anyone building from scratch with our shamanic frame drum making kit.

How do I lace a drum handle?
Our lacing guide walks through how we lace ours, step by step, and the listing photos show a finished handle you can follow. There’s no single right way to lace a handle, so consider ours as one solid method, but not the only one.
