As a general rule, the larger the drum, the deeper the resonance.

How do I build a shamanic frame drum?
The process for making a vegan frame drum is very similar to building a natural skin drum. When you order, you’ll get access to the Shamanic Frame Drum Making Kit video tutorial, which walks through the core stages (preparing the hoop, cutting the head, and lacing).
There are a couple of differences with the vegan kit: the drum head is synthetic rather than natural hide, and the handle is bound using rope instead of hide.
If you’d prefer in-person guidance, the Shamanic Frame Drum Making Workshop at our St Kilda studio is a guided alternative led by Abli, running two to three hours. Individual and group bookings are available.
Do I need any extra materials to complete the build?
No. The kit includes everything needed to build and play your drum: the hoop, synthetic head, 2.5mm white rope for lacing and the handle.
A felt mallet and padded carry bag are available as add-ons.
