Spring African Drumming Retreat: 13–15 November 2026
The Briars, Mount Martha
Our Spring Drum Retreat celebrates 25 years in 2026, at a beautiful new venue set amongst 15 acres of peaceful bushland, just one hour from Melbourne.
The retreat offers djembe and dun classes for beginner, intermediate and advanced levels, led by some of Australia’s most experienced teachers.
Across the weekend, you’ll take part in:
• African drumming classes for all levels
• Dance workshops accompanied by live drumming
• A special Saturday night performance
• Our legendary bonfire jam sessions
This is a unique opportunity to deepen your skills, connect with others, and fully immerse yourself in rhythm over a full weekend.

Transfers & Cancellation Policy
Ticket transfers
If you can no longer attend, you’re very welcome to transfer your ticket to another person. All transfer details must be emailed to [email protected] by 12:00pm on Friday 13 November 2026.
Cancellation Policy
We understand that plans can change. Please see our policy below:
• Cancel by 30 September 2026: Receive a refund to your original payment method, less a $30 admin fee.
• Cancel from 1 October 2026: Receive an African Drumming event or product credit, less a $50 admin fee.
• No-shows: No refund or credit will be issued for non-attendance without prior cancellation.

I’m an absolute beginner, can I come along?
Of course! You’re in good company. Of course! You’re in good company. We love welcoming new drummers, and our sessions are structured to meet everyone where they’re at. The mixed-level environment means there’s always something to learn from the people around you.
What should I bring to the Spring drumming retreat?
Your own drum if you have one (if not, you can hire one for $20).
A comfy drum stool if you prefer one, though there will be plenty of chairs available.
All food and drinks (The Briars has a large kitchen with ovens, microwaves, glasses, and cutlery).
Shoes suitable for dancing.
Sleeping bag, sheets, or a blanket, pillow & case.
Warm clothes for cooler weather.
A sun hat for sunny days.
